Subject: help needed
Hi Mr Koh,

We wish to use Symantec as our mini-research project but we do not know whether it caters to both B2B and B2C. We are confused whether businesses which buy Symantec products are considered to be business customers (B2C) instead of B2B ? Please advise.

Thanks alot.

Hi,

good question!
http://www.symantec.com/index.jsp
assumed above website.

It sells its products online (so, virtual storefront ecommerce business model)
they sell to visitors to its site.

buyers can be ordinary single users, business representatives buying for company.Visitors merely visit the website and buy off the products online. No further database or application interlink subsequently.
It so happened that its product ranges cater to the needs of both individual consumers or business consumers (but both still can be treated homogenously... as customers)..... so, it's still a B2C.

with B2B, the database and application functions are interwined at both the seller and buyers. Some form of extranet is necessary, with higher degree of networking and security, and controls. e.g. IBM and Oracle.

Rgds, jackkoh
